Retirement of Dr Gerald Fon
The team at Radiology SA would like to announce the retirement of Dr Fon at the end of the year, and thank him for his many years of service, not only to Radiology SA, and previously Perrett Medical Imaging practices, but also to his many patients and referrers.
Dr Fon completed his radiology training at Flinders Medical Centre in 1978, after which he travelled to the United States to pursue further specialty training at the University of Arizona and UCLA.
Over his career he developed a strong and respected specialty interest in both musculoskeletal imaging and neuroradiology.
His work in the field of private radiology dates back to 1981, when he joined the Perrett Radiology practice in Adelaide. He rose to become a key manager of that practice, gaining and refining skills which have been key to the success of Radiology SA today.
He has over the years been an examiner for the College of Radiology (RANZCR), and a board member of both the Memorial Hospital and MIA. He is credited with introducing nuclear medicine to the private radiology landscape in Adelaide, and was central in establishing the current Radiology SA partnership and practice in the post corporate era.
Under his guidance Radiology SA has expanded from a small practice of two clinics to a substantial practice including eight private clinics, two large public hospital contracts, and a major contract with BreastScreen SA.
As clinical director at Memorial Hospital he has overseen development of a flagship site that includes two MRI scanners, and a reputation for high end interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Radiology SA acknowledges his exemplary skills both as a radiologist and businessman, and wishes him every success in the future.
