About the Role:

This is a casual opportunity designed specifically for a current 2nd year Medical Imaging students who want to apply their learning in a real clinical environment and get paid for it.

As a Medical Imaging Assistant (MIA) at Radiology SA, you’ll play a key support role in helping technical staff deliver high-quality, patient-focused imaging services across multiple modalities. You’ll gain hands-on experience by assisting radiographers in areas such as:

  • Preparing and supporting patients before and during procedures
  • Asking clinical screening questions and gathering relevant medical history
  • Explaining procedures and outlining any associated risks
  • Assisting with cannulation (where appropriate) and patient positioning
  • Reviewing referral forms to support accurate diagnostic imaging
  • Supporting clinical staff with manual handling and patient preparation
  • Contributing to efficient workflows, including urgent and walk-in appointments
  • Collaborating with technical and clerical staff to ensure smooth clinic operations

We are offering FRANZCR qualified Radiologists the opportunity to undertake a dedicated Interventional Radiology training commencing February or August 2027

This fellowship provides an ideal opportunity for those seeking to develop broad procedural confidence and competence in interventional radiology. It also serves as an excellent foundation for those wishing to pursue further subspecialty training, including future Advanced Interventional fellowship opportunities and would provide an excellent foundation for those wishing to pursue consultant positions in Interventional Radiology. 

Radiologists with an interest in working towards the EBIR (European Board of Interventional Radiology) qualification are encouraged to apply.  The fellowship offers exposure and procedural experience that may assist candidates in progressing towards EBIR requirements, and support can be provided to help facilitate this pathway. 

Fellowships are available as 6 or 12-month programs, with part-time arrangements considered. 

The hybrid opportunity combines: 

  • 2–3 days per week Interventional Fellowship training 
  • 1–2 days per week Consultant Radiologist duties

About You

About the Opportunity

Love using your skills to guide and grow others? At RSA, you’ll do more than scan, you’ll shape the next generation of Sonographers. Working alongside Radiologists, other Tutors, and our Chief Sonographer, you’ll mentor trainees, set high standards in clinical practice, and help build capability, confidence, and quality across the team.

In This Role, You Will

  • Coach trainees in image optimisation, reproducible measurements, and accurate documentation
  • Provide constructive, supportive feedback and guide formal assessments
  • Balance mentoring with clinical lists, maintaining high standards in patient care
  • Share knowledge and contribute to a culture where respect, kindness, and teamwork are part of everyday practice

  • Current ASAR registration and a postgraduate qualification in medical ultrasound
  • A calm, collaborative, and organised approach
  • Pride in meticulous scanning and clear, complete studies
  • A passion for mentoring and supporting trainees
  • Confidence working across multiple sites when required
  • A valid Working with Children Check and Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
