The Lyell McEwin Hospital (LMH) is a major tertiary public hospital serving the northern suburbs of Adelaide. The emergency department alone provides health care to 65,000 people each year.
Radiology SA began work at the LMH in December 2016, helping sustain services over the New Year period until our formal commencement in January 2017.
Our on-site radiologists provide cover 7 days a week, with a rostered interventional radiologist on site every week-day. We also support a registered medical officer (RMO), some of whom have successfully gone on to formal training as radiologists.
Highlights of our service record include:
- Increased number of clinical meetings, with new medical student teaching
- Increased number and complexity of interventional procedures, reducing the need for inter-hospital transfers
- Significant growth in examination numbers due to diversity of examinations/procedures offered
- RANZCR approval for a supervised radiologist training position to commence August 2019
