Item 61612 - PET for RARE AND UNCOMMON CANCER (including cancer with unknown primary)
A new PET/CT scan for initial staging and management in patients diagnosed with rare and uncommon cancers, who are considered suitable for active therapy. This item is applicable once per cancer diagnosis.
Patients considered suitable for this scan include those with:
- Cancer with an unknown primary site
- Anal cancer
- Bladder cancer
- Brain Cancer
- Other cancer of central nervous system
- Gallbladder and extrahepatic bile duct cancer
- Gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST)
- Kaposi sarcoma
- Liver cancer
- Merkel cell cancer
- Ovarian cancer & serous carcinomas of the fallopian tube
- Pancreatic cancer
- Penile cancer
- Peritoneal cancer
- Placenta cancer
- Small intestine cancer
- Stomach cancer
- Testicular cancer
- Uterine cancer
- Vaginal cancer
- Vulvar cancer
